Vlad is a Turkey Vulture that was found on August 11, 2018 in Hampton Bays, NY after being hit by a train.  She had a fractured right ulna (bone in her wing) and some swelling in her left leg and foot.  After her treatment at The Center, she was sent to The Raptor Trust in NJ where they continued her flight training and it was determined that she was ready for release.  Unfortunately, after release, Vlad found herself in trouble again, as she was begging for food at local restaurants. Due to her abnormal behavior towards people, Vlad returned to The Center where she helps us teach about her scavenging species.

Turkey vultures have an extraordinary sense of smell. 

Turkey vultures will projectile vomit if they are scared.
